About Our Dream
We started travelling to West Africa in
2001 after Angela (on the left) received a
scholarship from UCSC for an
independent study of West African
women and skin bleaching.
Valerie (daughter on right) didn't want to
get left out of the journey, and joined in
on the experience.
We both were startled and amazed with
the beauty of Africa and her peoples.
After a rough first trip with another
company, we figured that we could do it
better-- in other words, that we could
build a journey that spoke to the needs
of the traveller and not some agent who
had no vested interests in what we
wanted to do or accomplish.
We decided to invite friends and family
who wanted to do specific things---
some wanted college credit, some
wanted to see the rain forests, some
wanted to go shopping, take drumming
lessons, take dance lessons, spend
some time learning fabric dying or just
wanted to get close to the Motherland.
In the process, we've been to Ghana,
West Africa more than 25 times since
2001. Check out some of our pics on
