Dear Mama,

There was just something so "Mississippi" about this
picture! The red dirt, the sense of being absorbed
into something besides myself;
Coming to Ghana, this is one of the strongest
connections to the land for me outside of my
birthplace.
This is the back road to CapeCoast, Ghana.

Valerie De Mers and Angela Thibodeaux started
traveling to West Africa in 2001 as a result of
academia studies and genealogical research.


As a result of the popularity of those
experiences, more than a hundred persons
have travelled with them  to discover the
Motherland for themselves and to visit ancestral
roots, slave castles, see the rainforest, meet
new friends, and experience the real culture of
West Africa!
